VVGtv’s FREDS FRIDAYS Number 7 You’re Grounded!

Well it has been quite a run for Fred for the past 7 weeks. He ended up playing too long here at VVGtv, now it seems he is grounded in his basement for a while, by whom, I have no idea. He will escape again, find out his parents are gone, and the rest of the world has turned to taco eating zombies. It will be sad to see Fred leave this site for a while. Maybe he will pick up his trail on another site as well. Fred is on a journey, he needs to get use to his surroundings, he also needs to find that damn twinky factory, because ya know, twinkies last forever, according to some zombie movie.

At this moment and time I would like you to visit the developers website located at Sticky DPad Games and also follow them on their twitter as well at @StickyDPadGames.

Also here is a list of the previous FREDS FRIDAYS:

-Platformines- Development update: Inventories, Energy, Ugly Pizza Monsters

Grabbed from DevBlog at Magicko Gaming:

What’s new in the Platformines development these days ?

As you can see at the beginning of the video (watch in HD), there is now a ‘customize hero’ screen that lets you deck out your dude. We are still adding more possibilities but already you can make some pretty original faces.

Inventories: We have full working interfaces for exchanging objects, storing, buying and selling your goods. This was a pretty heavy task to design and code, so it’s really nice to see it fully functional ingame.

We have started to implement the whole progression of the game: increasing difficulty requiring you to get better energy belts and weapons to be able to go further down. Lots of work is left in order to actually fine tune it all, but it will be a fun task (hopefully!).

Finally, some content has been added, like sounds and music, traps, blocks, monsters, ect… still a lot of content to be done as well.

This Dark Knight is on an EvilQuest!

Direct Press Release from ChaoSoft Games:
Chaosoft Games announces EvilQuest, their latest title for the Xbox Live Indie Games service. The game will launch January 4th 2012 for 80 Microsoft Points ($1 U.S.).

EvilQuest turns the Action-RPG genre on its head by putting the player in the role of a villain bent on world domination, rather than the traditional role of a hero trying to save the world.

As the dark knight Galvis, the player begins the story by staging a daring escape from an imperial prison and unleashes his lust for vengeance and power on a world that is ripe for the taking. As the story progresses, Galvis will gain untold power, ultimately leading to a confrontation with the gods themselves. The outcome will determine the fate of the world and decide who is worthy to wield ultimate power.

EvilQuest features a wide variety of environments, enemies, and boss creatures – all created in retro style with 100% original artwork, animation, and music. In addition to fighting monsters, Galvis will also terrorize the residents of several towns and must avoid imperial agents seeking to re-capture him.

The goal of the game is for Galvis to take revenge on his captors as well as unlock the secret power of four legendary seals. Players will find a variety of weapons, items, and magic spells to increase their power as they play through the quest. The game also allows the player to customize areas of proficiency during level-ups by assigning points to particular attributes.

– Dark and genre-defying dialogue and story

– Fast-paced action-RPG gameplay

– Retro-style original graphics

– Original musical score

– Game world full of mysteries and twists to explore

– Multiple levels of melee & ranged attacks through weapon charging system

– 15 unique dungeon levels and overworld areas

– 14 different spells with a variety of purposes and effects

– Over 10 challenging boss fights

– Dozens of pieces of equipment and items to discover

Preview of the 1Up Extra-Life Documentary

This is a short, 5 minute segment from our upcoming documentary about the Extra-Life 24 Hour gaming charity. We’re also having a contest to design the logo for the video and the DVD!

If you’re interested in making a logo, we’re looking for an 8-bit or 16-bit style logo that contains the title “1Up: The Extra-Life Documentary” somewhere on it. Be creative and you might have your design chosen. The contest ends at the end of the year, so all submissions need to be sent in by January 1st, 2012. You can send your submission to and the winner will receive a free copy of the documentary on DVD. All designs will be featured on our website, so make sure you get your submission in soon!

The music used in this preview are from Sonic 2 and Final Fantasy VII and are owned by their respective companies.

This film is non-profit and solely used in order to show the effects of 24 hours of straight gaming and the great feats that people will go in order to raise money for charity. For more information on Extra-Life, you can find their website here

The 2 Community Indie Games Summer Uprising Titles have been chosen

A long time has come, we have been waiting for the 2 community votes for the last to games to represent the Indie Games Summer Uprising.

Here are the 2 community chosen games that will be headlining the Indie Games Summer Uprising Event.
Redd: The Lost Temple:
Follow the adventures of Redd in this top down, 2D, 1080p, action/adventure game. The world is in danger from an unknown physical phenomenon and only the archeologist Allie and the explorer-for-hire Redd can save us. Navigate through a huge dungeon avoiding sinister traps, time based puzzles, and massive stone creatures to try and unlock the mystery of the Royal Amulet of Konira and defeat The Lost Temple.

Chester is a platformer I have been working on for approaching a year now. It’s very old-school in feel but very unique in it’s style. The majority of the game is hand-drawn but the user has the ability to switch between a number on unlockable stlyes including 8-bit, LCD, Sketch, Blueprint, and more.
The game will span several themed worlds (Forest, desert, candyworld, city, and others) with around 50 levels and several unique boss fights.

There will also be around 10 unlockable unique characters.
