Playstation 4 prototype contains AMD Fusion Chip & 2GB of Memory
It seems the wonderful folks over at PSX-SENSE have spent months speaking with people and obtaining documents in regards to the Playstation 4, codenamed: ‘Orbis”.
REMEMBER. THIS IS ALL RUMOR AND SPECULATION.
Before I begin, I also want to mention that this site has to be translated, so the English won’t be the greatest.
According to PSX, Sony was planning to unveil the Playstation 4 at this year’s E3, but ran into problems with the AMD chip. They were aiming to reveal it as well to prevent anymore leaking of information and to get the devkits out as soon as possible to small developers. Before the chip problem, they were aiming to release the trailer in the fourth quarter of 2013. PSX was also told 04.04.12 as another possible date (Highly doubtful).
PSX mentioned that the Sony documents mentioned “Orbis” as a codename, which doesn’t signify that it will be the final name for the system. Sony might just got with the simple “Playstation 4”.
What is the focus of the Playstation 4?
“Sony obviously has some goals in mind with this next-gen console and covered in principle be divided into three categories. The first is price and quality, Sony is focusing on the best possible performance for the most reasonable price. A price we have heard nothing but Sony has apparently been said they are really focusing on a reasonable price. Whether this is above or below the first PS3’s price dies down, we do not know, but at that time was about 600 euros.
The second category is the development easier, something this time really is of paramount importance. In the beginning of the PS3 complained about the fact that many developers create a game for the PS3 is no cat pee. This Sony is trying to avoid this time and so they opt for a much more understandable and more famous structures SDK for developers to meet.
Finally, the focus is the operating system, this is brand new and that means that the PS4 is going to take farewell of the familiar XMB. Sony goes with might work to even more applications to the PS4 to bring. For North America, this means right from the launch a wide range of services like Hulu + Netflix, MLB, Amazon Video, UFC, Crackle, Pandora, NHL Game Center, CNBC, NBA, ESPN and more.”
All of this should be common sense to Sony. The fact that the Playstation 3 was a nightmare to develop for in the beginning, only shows that Sony needs to make a system that is developer-friendly.
Waiting to see the tech specs?
- AMD Fusion APU – Codenamed ‘Liverpool’
- AMD x86 Quad Core at 3.2 GHz
- ATI r10xx (3rd generation) GFLOPS at 800 MHz and 1843 – Codename “Tahiti”
- Unified 2GB of memory (still uncertain, this can be 4GB)
- HDMI 1.4 – 1080p output
- 320GB + HDD
- 16GB Flash Memory
According to PSX, these specs were for an early prototype from last year, so it’s extremely possible Sony has changed things around.
There is more to the article, so I suggest you read the whole thing here
Once again, this is all a rumor, so take everything with a grain of salt. If PSX really does have Sony documents related to the PS4, then this is truly a remarkable discovery. Let us know what you think!
